ABOUT

The Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be hosting the first Schools and Inclusive Governance Workshop on the 18th August for recently appointed members of School Governing Bodies and diversity/transformation committees in public schools. The workshop will be an opportunity to share knowledge, practices and ideas for building democratic, accountable and inclusive schools in the Western Cape. We envisage building a network of parents, teachers and schools that actively support access to quality education for all children in South Africa.

Unity, inclusion and understanding are the basic tenets of a successful and prosperous society. If South Africa is to develop into a thriving society then work needs to be done across all of society to promote inclusive practices and mechanisms that ensure that all who live in it are made to feel understood, included and accepted. This work often starts in the school - schools are complex organizations that are challenging to lead and manage. They do not function in a vacuum, insulated from the political, economic, and social forces at play in society.

If you are not a member of an SGB but would like to attend please reach out to Luvuyo Maseko at [email protected] or 021 406 1033.
