Durban's irreverent sons of fun and rock and ruin, SALTY DOG , will present COME TOGETHER - a random ramble
through the music of THE BEATLES
The show will include many favourites, eg Yellow Submarine, Hey Jude, Back In The USSR, All My Loving, and many more.
The band will play 2 X 45 minute sets of the Fab Four's music, and, as a bonus, will do a short set of classic rock covers from the 60s and 70s.
The show kicks off at 8pm.
THE SALTY DOG EXPERIENCE
Salty Dog is renowned for light-hearted, irreverent, fun-filled performances.
The band started playing together in November, 1996, as a sextet.
The first public appearance was at, now defunct, Thirsty’s in the King’s Battery complex at the Durban harbour mouth.
Salty Dog played at Thirsty’s for 2 and a half years, building a solid fan base and
establishing a reputation as a hard-working party band.
Over the years, the band has had a few changes in the line-up. The original sextet lost 2 members, and the band thundered on as a quartet for some time.
Thereafter, for many years, Salty Dog performed as a trio.
The group has played extensively throughout the greater Durban area and KZN and has also performed in Gauteng, The Free State and Swaziland.
The band’s repertoire consists of various genres eg classic rock, pop, rock ‘n roll, blues, reggae and country and includes the music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cream, Elvis, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, The Travelling Willburys, Elmore James, Neil Diamond, Status Quo, Bob Marley, Dire Straits, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan amongst others.
Salty Dog is eminently suitable for birthday parties for the more experienced and mature music lovers (!), themed parties (eg Woodstock, Rock ‘n Roll), fund-raisers, 2nd or 3rd weddings etc.
Salty Dog performs primarily as a sextet, but can augment the band with additional instruments to suit the particular needs of the client, eg keyboards, saxophone, trumpet etc.
