Join Salma Patel of the Fietas Museum and Tshepo Letsoalo of Sophiatownthe Mix for a guided walk through Fietas, Vrededorp and Sophiatown.Fietas resident and founder of the Fietas Museum Salma Patel traces the turbulent history of these historic neighbourhoods that were the victim of the devastating Apartheid policy of forced removals. Starting at the Fietas Museum (one of the few surviving original buildings in Fietas), the walk visits the homes of local residents who were directly affected by the forced removals in Sophiatown and Fietas, also making stops to sample local cuisine.
In particular this JoziWalk pays tribute to the communities that were torn apart by Apartheid's forced removals while also shedding light on the contemporary communities that have taken their place.
