JoziWalks Inner City Eastern Gateway - Honing in On HopeArtist, community activist and founder of Troyeville’s Spaza Art GalleryAndrew Lindsay leads a guided walk through the inner-city Eastern Gateway’s parallel communities of Troyeville, Ellis Park, Bertrams and Doornfontein.
Troyeville’s Spaza Gallery is a local institution where for year's Andrew Lindsay has partnered with local community members to create local public art initiatives. On this walk Lindsay is joined by various local heroes and community leaders including a waste recycler and local authors. Stops on the walk include visits to a local nyanga (sangoma) and the organic community gardens at the Bertrams Inner-city Farm.
The tour ends at the Spaza Art Gallery where there is the opportunity to take part in creating a large-scale art installation.
In particular this JoziWalk offers an insider's glimpse into the area's various community initiatives and the opportunity to leave your mark on Joburg’s public art landscape.
