Give PEACE a CHANCE! Have you ever wondered what it would look like if One Million Candles were burned all at the same time?  Well, now you can be a part of just such an event - AND it is all in the name of WORLD PEACE!

Just around sunset, on Saturday 28 April, in a serene location in the Karoo Desert of South Africa a couple of thousand "Afrika Burners" will gather around a pyramid shaped Musical Temple, each person holding a burning candle... a candle dedicated to a loved one, a hero, a pet, a friend, a cause.  

Get your candle here now, upload your pic and message, and it will burn at the OneIAM ceremony, WHETHER YOU ARE ABLE TO ATTEND AFRIKA BURN IN PERSON OR NOT!

AND, later this year, at no further contribution, a copy of your dedication peace candle will be part of the full ONE MILLION CANDLE BURN, staged in the NEVADA DESERT in the USA.  It will be visible from the International Space station!  Our cry for Peace will not be ignored!

Oh YES! By Saturday 21 April one lucky contributor will win 10% of all contributions received to date. And everyone gets videos of the events!

SO, HERE GOES the FULL STORY ...



From a "drone's-eye point-of-view", each individual speck of candle light will contribute to the formation of a beautiful graphic - the pattern of which is still to be determined by our community of supporters. Burners like YOU and all those special people from around the globe who's hearts yearn to be there in spirit!

It might look something like this and all IAM contributors like yourself will get the drone video ...



"OneIAM" will be the pre-burn ceremony of "IAM", or Interactive AfrikaBurn Music, which promises to be a key interactive art piece, entertaining numerous dance crowds at Afrika Burn 2018. For the last week of April "IAM" will be transforming the dance moves perpetrated by Afrika Burners on the steps of this "MY-an Inspired Pyramid" structure, into psychedelic, trancy, housey, dubstepish, electroswinging etc, etc, styles of dance music - all never heard before! In short - the dance moves concocted by you and your friends on the steps of this pyramid will actually be generating all the music on the fly!  Awesomeness hey?

But alas... there is a snag... we still need to secure a couple of key support items in order to make this amazing interactive musical installation possible. And with your support in buying a candle, we will be able to afford a couple of the last building materials to ensure a safe and sturdy pyramid structure, fuel for the burn event, a generator to power our peripheral lighting systems, a back-up computer for the music programmes and a couple of speakers, electronic switches and circuits among other things. So, please have a quick look at how it all works and then try to deny serious FOMO if you were not a part of the sound, the dance, the dedication candle ceremony and ... ultimately... THE BURN of the IAM Pyramid! 

It all works like this...

1) The master DJ starts a new specially-composed group of instrument tracks
2) You and your friends are invited to climb the steps of the MY-An Tower of Power
3) Each set of steps is connected to a specific set of tracks on the DJ's computer - and by climbing up & down, you and your friends change the sounds, effects and timing of each instrument track
4) Additional controls like slides add to the fun
5) The dance crowd goes wild

Then on the 28th during its final performance at Afrika Burn and after the candle ceremony featuring your customised dedication candle, it will all go up in flames!

*NB* Kindly note that, although anyone from around the globe can buy a dedication candle to be burned on their behalf by our team at the Afrika Burn OneIAM ceremony on 28 April, anyone wishing to attend the main Afrika Burn event, to personally hold a candle during the ceremony, would have to be in possession of a valid Afrika Burn 2018 entrance ticket. 

WHAT DO I GET IN RETURN FOR MY CONTRIBUTION?

We prepare your wind resistant candle, print your dedication picture and message onto your candle's windshield, along with your unique "OneIAM" serial number and then bring it all to the Afrika Burn playa.

On the afternoon of Saturday, 28 April, our team will have all contributors' candles decked out around the "MY-an Inspired Pyramid" all in a numbered grid, to represent the design finally chosen by our community.

Around sunset time that evening during the IAM pre-burn ceremony, you can choose to hold your dedication candle yourself, or leave it planted in place on the ground.  Of course, so will the candles of our contributors from around the world, who are not able to attend Afrika Burn 2018 in person.

Anyone attending Afrika Burn in person can afford to have a candle - 10% of all candles at the One IAM burn event will be sponsored by your contribution and made available to Afrika Burn Community Ticket holders.

Afterwards you can download a personalised video of the OneIAM event featuring your candle dedication burning against the backdrop of beautifully creative video, stills and aerial drone shots capturing the entire event. It will also feature IAM interactive musical performances selected from the entire week's shows at Afrika Burn.

A copy of the dedication message and picture printed on each contributor's candle windshield will form part of the design patterns on the steps of the "MY-an Inspired Pyramid"

During the daytime hours of Afrika Burn week, the IAM Interactive AfrikaBurn Music event will hold workshops on interactive live music appreciation and creation via interaction with the "MY-an Inspired Pyramid" structure. Contributors to the One In A Million candle project will get a prime opportunity to practice the art of dancing and prancing the pyramid steps, fiddling the effects controls and sliding the slides of this amazing collaboration artwork for interactive music creation.
