(And so is the hydropower they create)

Hydropower is the only “renewable” energy source sending species to extinction, displacing people globally, and contributing to climate change.

The Balkan region has preserved the last wild rivers of the European Continent. But these rivers are now under threat.  3,000 dams are going to be built in this region. And almost half of those are intended within protected areas. This is happening at a time when dams are being decommissioned throughout much of the developed world.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion exploring the impact of current and proposed dams on our freshwater ecology, as well as the social and political impact of dam building in SA.
