MORE INFO:
On 9 May 2017, after spending 92 days at sea, Braam Malherbe together with his rowing partner Wayne Robertson, achieved an epic world first by rowing approximately 8 100kms unassisted from Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro. They rowed in a small vessel, Mhondoro, a 6.1m rowing boat….
This world-first expedition will be the recognized as being the most southern rowing expedition ever undertaken from South Africa.
More extraordinary however is that this challenge is entirely unassisted and unsupported. There is no rescue boat or emergency support. The closest ship would be their only source of help- which could be days away.
Braam and Wayne rowed in rotating two hour shifts and faced collisions with container ships, 40m swells, broken ribs, dehydration and severe exhaustion all in the name of conservation. Braam challenges everyone to Do One Thing (DOT) to save our precious planet.
