The Event

Under our theme "Perception Is Truth’’, South African Mountaineer and Businesswomen, Deshun Deysel, will talk us through the intricacies of how perceptions can be seen as the truth. This session will unpack how one's own perceptions of themselves, as well as others’ perceptions of them, can impact their entrepreneurial journey.

About the speaker: Deshun Deysel

Deshun Deysel is perhaps best known to the public as the first person of colour to take on the mighty Mount Everest in 1996 at the young age of 26 years.
Placing the country’s new flag atop the world’s highest mountain range was considered a fitting tribute to the country’s struggle and a great accomplishment to become a democracy.

Deshun’s experiences as a mountaineer not only helped her achieve her lifelong dream of exploring what lies beyond the “blue hazed silhouette” but sharing her story of pushing and challenging boundaries and stereotypes has been an inspiration to many in South Africa and throughout the world. She has over the last 20 years etched out a reputation as a sought after motivational and keynote speaker to audiences ranging from students, to business leaders to presidents.  Through these talks and presentations Deshun continues to inspire thousands to achieve their personal life and career goals
