Smuts Hall U.K. 90th Anniversary DrinksFor 90 years Smuts Hall has been graced by greats like Mark Shuttleworth, Kelly Chibale, and Neville Isdell. There’s no saying how many world-changing ideas can be traced back to having spawned in The George…. We couldn’t find anywhere in the UK which could compare, but we’ve happily settled on celebrating 90 years of excellence at The George pub in London, frequented by Shakespeare and Dickens in their times.
Join us for an evening of drinks, nostalgia, and reconnecting.
Who: Smuts Hall Alumni (Young or ancient, big or small, far or wide – all welcome)
What: Drinks and snacks, address from Warden Kelly Chibale, greatest Smuts Hall stories from 90 years.
Dress: Smart Casual (Smuts tie, if you have one)

Professor, Doctor, Warden, Fellow, Director, Researcher - you'll be hard pressed to exhaust the list of Prof. Kelly Chibale's titles, and even harder pressed to run out of superlatives with which to describe this phenomenal man. "I am so looking forward to meeting each and every Smuts Hall Alumnus at what promises to be an unforgettable evening. I'm excited to give you an update on our great residence that is Smuts Hall and to inaugurate our Smuts 90th celebrations together.
It is always a wonderful thing to see relationships from Smuts Hall continue to thrive 5/10/20/30/40 years on, and I expect that this London event will be a great testament to the unity of our Smuts Hall family.

Try not to underestimate the value of meeting other Smutsmen. As the top residence in the University for many years, we boast a hugely successful old boy group (from blue chip CEOs to astronauts). We might look like a few scruffy blokes in a bar, but most of us clean up pretty good the next day. If networking is more your game, where's a better place to solve the world's problems than in the 'George Pub'?
