Singularity University Cape Town Chapter: Space, Technology and the Future

Mon Mar 19, 18:00 - Mon Mar 19, 20:30

Workshop 17

ABOUT

We empower a global community with the mindset, skillset and network to create an abundant future for all.

The human race has an insatiable need to explore and grow, from the plains of Africa to all corners of our planet. This desire to discover new things and new places is also taking us outside the boundaries of our planet. We've landed on the Moon, built and lived in a giant space laboratory called the International Space Station and continue to probe the deep mysteries of the Universe.

Thanks to exponential technologies, the ever-decreasing costs of building, launching and operating spacecraft makes it possible for humanity to create knowledge on the state of our planet, explore the Moon and Mars, and transform the way we communicate. A new space age is upon us. Companies like SpaceX, OneWeb, Blue Origin, Planet, Made in Space and Planetary Resources are using the potential of space to enrich our lives here on Earth.

Come and join us for an inspiring evening of discovery and learn from Assistant Project Scientist, Anne Verbiscer, who is the New Horizons Space Researcher for NASA mission to Pluto and the Kuiper-Belt; Mike Alec-Kearney, from South Africa’s satellite startup CubeSpace; and Carla Sharpe from the Square Kilometer-Array (SKA) project.
