ABOUT

The 9th World Naked Bike Ride - Cape Town
Saturday 10th March 2017

Start and Finish at 10 Darling Street Parking Lot.
Meet at 09:00 am, to start riding at 9:30am.

Clothing is optional: The dress code for the World Naked Bike Ride is "Bare As You Dare"! YOU get to decide how naked you wish to be. If that means completely naked, or completely clothed, the decision is yours...

We want you to look colourful and display messages promoting safer cycling streets or protesting against fossil fuel dependency. Paint your body! Popular slogans are 'Burn fat not fuel' 'Oil causes war' 'Can you see me now?' etc.

Keep an eye on this event page and our community page World Naked Bike Ride - Cape Town for updates...

THE USUAL ROUTE & STARTING TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED due a large march happening on the same day that we do not want to clash with - Cape Town Unites for Animals March https://www.facebook.com/events/1966735243567282/

This ride is about joining in a world wide campaign/protest for the environment: we ride for CLEANER ENERGY, less reliance on fossil fuels, CUTTING CARBON EMISSIONS, MAKE CYCLING IN CAPE TOWN SAFER, to encourage MORE PEOPLE TO CYCLE and reject body shame!

Come and participate: cycle, skate, unicycle, rollerblade, rollerskate, run, jog, walk, push a wheelchair, push a pram... Doesn't matter how dressed or undressed you are... just take part!

The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an international clothing-optional bike ride in which participants plan, meet and ride together en masse on human-powered transport (the vast majority on bicycles, but some on skateboards and inline skates), to "deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world."

The dress code motto is "bare as you dare".Full or partial nudity is encouraged, but not mandatory. There is no mandate to cover intimate parts; this is a distinguishing feature of the WNBR against other cycling events. We DO encourage you to decorate your bodies and bicycles in colour and relevant messages to promote cycling.

Creative expression is encouraged to generate a fun and immersive atmosphere during the ride, capture the attention and imagination of the public and media, and make the experience more personalized and fulfilling for the riders.

There will be a march starting at 11am from our starting and finishing point for Cape Town Unites for Animals. You will be in the right place to take part in this march (on your bicycle) if you want to participate in both events. The organisers of the Cape Town Unites for Animals ask that we do not ride naked for their cause. https://www.facebook.com/events/1966735243567282/
