Keyes Art Mile

Talking Art at Keyes annual series opens with Michael MacGarry
Keyes Art Mile is launching an annual series of art talks that will take place on a quarterly basis in The Trumpet building.
Talking Art at Keyes will provide people with an opportunity to engage in robust discussions about how art informs us, challenges us and moves us.  The series will explore ways in which art gives the artistic community a voice – a platform to comment, express, interpret and interrogate with a freedom that is so often inhibited or censored by more traditional forms of expression.
For people whose interest in art has recently been piqued, Talking Art at Keyes will be an inspiring and informative place to learn more and join in on the dialogue with artists, panelists, collectors and other lovers of art.
On arrival, guests will be offered a complimentary glass of wine and the talks will be followed by an open wine and craft beer bar, live music or some performance art.
Keyes Art Mile will host the first conversation with visual artists and filmmaker Michael MacGarry on Wednesday 21 February 2018 at 6pm. MacGarry will be showing his film ‘Parang’ alongside ‘Flies’ and ‘The Battles’, as well as discussing his new exhibition which will open at Circa in March.
The conversation will be moderated by Lunetta Bartz, the founder of MAKER - a multidisciplinary design studio and art book publisher based in Johannesburg. Longtime collector and art curator - Lunetta has considerable experience and knowledge in the field of contemporary art.
Afterwards, Mpumi and Tshepang from the BLKJKS will do a duo DJ set, while guests have the chance to mix and mingle.
Attendance is free but people must register beforehand as seats are limited.
Please diarise the next Talking Art at Keyes event in May:
23 May - Five Female Curators: shaking up the art world (Moderated by Mili Bongewa from M&G)
