Rode Podcast Week, hosted by Visual Impact Broadcast Solutions
Tue Nov 10, 10:00 - Fri Nov 20, 15:00
Media Hive Theatre
ABOUT
Free. Sit down in a working podcast studio, on mic and on camera.
A podcast is not just audio any more. Your audience watches as much as it listens, and a show that sounds sharp but looks flat will lose them. For nine days, Rode and Visual Impact are building a working podcast studio in the theatre at Media Hive so you can sit behind a complete setup, Rode microphones and consoles paired with Canon and Sony cameras and PTZ robotics, and hear and see the difference for yourself.
Pick your day below, any weekday from Tuesday 10 to Friday 20 November, between 10h00 and 15h00. Booking is free and takes a minute, and we will have a seat, a microphone and a camera ready for you.
The sound, from Rode
- RODECaster Duo and RODECaster Pro II, the all in one consoles that run a two person or a four person show
- PodMic, the broadcast dynamic microphone built for the human voice
- Wireless PRO, Wireless ME and Wireless GO II, for recording without cables
- NTH-100 headphones, for monitoring, mixing and mastering your own show
- PSA1+ studio arms, and how to place a microphone so it stays out of shot
The picture, from Visual Impact
- Canon and Sony cameras set up for talking heads, framed and matched so every seat looks the same
- PTZ cameras, the pan, tilt and zoom robotic cameras that let one person cover a four seat table with no crew on the floor
- Cutting between angles live, and what you need to record each one
- Lighting and framing that makes a desk look like a studio rather than a meeting room
- Getting clean Rode audio into the camera or the recorder, in sync, every time
Why it is worth the drive
- Hear your own voice through different microphones and chains, back to back
- See yourself on camera, and see what changes when the lens and the lighting change
- Talk to people who build podcast studios every day, not a shop floor
- Get honest advice on what you actually need for your budget, and what you can skip
Whether you are still thinking about starting a podcast, or you already have one and it is not sounding or looking right, walk in with your questions and walk out knowing exactly what to buy and how to set it up.
