Clarinet (Danre Strydom) and Piano (Catherine Foxcroft) Duo Recital

For the final celebratory concert of the year Danre Strydom (clarinet) and Catherine Foxcroft (piano) join forces for an evening that travels from Romantic intimacy to Havana dance rhythms.

Hear Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, Schubert’s songlike Impromptu, and Liszt’s dazzling Rigoletto paraphrase, a four-voice opera quartet reimagined at the keyboard. Discover Mel Bonis’s charming “Gai Printemps,” then let the clarinet find its blues, klezmer and Latin soul in works by Mangani, Kovács and Paquito D’Rivera. There’s Malcolm Arnold’s swaggering Sonatina, and Hendrik Hofmeyr’s sombre Canto Notturno from South Africa’s own composing voice.

Classical, jazz, klezmer and more, all in one programme.

Join us at 6.30 before the concert for a glass of complimentary bubbles to celebrate the year.
