Third Sunday Retreat with Dave Reynolds & Bongai Sotshononda

It takes just 30 mins to retreat from Cape Town to Hercus Healing where we host Dave Reynolds & Bongani Sotshononda for a third consecutive Sunday in November.

We begin with a simple yoga class (no prior experience necessary) then segue straight into an African Sound Journey. This guided meditation allows us to slip away from our lives and into a state of deep consciousness (yoganidra). After a tea break, Dave and Bongani will perform music from their latest albums.

Dave Reynolds is South Africa's premiere steelpan composer and performer. He also plays paraguayan harp and a ten-string guitar. He has performed and recorded all over the world with Hugh Masekela, Steve Newman, Pops Mohamed, Chris Tokalon, Andy Narell, Tony Cox, Paul Hanmer, Ronan Skillen, Sipho Gumede and many others. His latest album, SANDANCE is a soundtrack he composed together with Pops for a documentary about the rituals and dances of the Sand people of the kalahari. The movie won 11 international film awards and the album was nominated for four South African Music Awards.

Bongani Sotshononda is South Africa's top vibraphonist and jazz marimba player. He spends most of his time touring Europe and the Indian ocean (Madagascar, Reunion, Zanzibar) - in fact, he's there right now and only returns a few days before this event. He believes that African music is our best kept secret - a door into a world where trust, love, laughter, creativity and decency are normal.
