ABOUT
Celebrate the festive season with the Cape Town Chamber Choir in a concert that brings together the contemplative beauty of sacred choral music and the joy of beloved Christmas carols.
Founded in 2010, the Cape Town Chamber Choir brings together singers across generations, united by a passion for choral excellence and the expressive power of the human voice. Under the musical direction of Antoinette Huyssen, this finely honed choir presents a programme spanning centuries of musical tradition.

The first half of the concert explores the mystery and wonder of the Nativity, from the luminous Renaissance polyphony of Tomás Luis de Victoria’s O magnum mysterium to the tender lullaby Maria Wiegenlied by Max Reger and James MacMillan’s evocative O Radiant Dawn. Works by South African composers Hendrik Hofmeyr and Hans Huyssen bring local voices into this rich tapestry of sacred music, alongside festive works celebrating the angels’ proclamation and the journey of the Magi.
Our exuberant second half invites audiences to join in familiar favourites, including O Come, All Ye Faithful, Silent Night and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. From the reverence of John Rutter's O Holy Night to the gospel energy of Go Tell It on the Mountain and the rhythmic playfulness of Ding Dong in 5/4 time, the programme captures the many moods of Christmas.
An afternoon of beautiful choral music to get you ready for the festive season!
