Valentina Vorster’s Violin Studio – Annual Concert
Valentina Vorster’s Violin Studio proudly presents its annual concert, featuring 21 young violinists aged 4 to 16, plus an adult student, in a programme celebrating their musical growth, dedication, and achievements over the past year.
This year’s theme, Better Together, reflects Mrs Vorster’s focus on introducing her students to the joy of making music together. Throughout the year, students have been encouraged to develop their ensemble skills, learning not only to play their own parts but also to listen, collaborate, and create music as a team.
The morning’s programme will feature a variety of violin duos and trios, culminating in a special performance bringing all 21 young violinists together on stage.
Piano accompaniment: Throy Petersen and the young violinist and pianist Nina Cilliers.
All are warmly invited to join us for this celebration of music, growth, and togetherness!
Valentina Vorster
Born in Bulgaria, Valentina Vorster began studying the violin at the age of five. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, studying under the late Prof. Eli Kazakova. A prizewinner in numerous national solo and chamber music competitions, she performed extensively throughout Europe, including international opera tours with two Bulgarian State Symphony Orchestras.
In 2002, Valentina moved to South Africa to join the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and Baroque 2000 in Durban. During this time, she appeared as a soloist and served as Co-Principal First Violin of the KZN Philharmonic from 2006 to 2009. She was also a member of the award-winning Wouter String Quartet and performed regularly in chamber music concerts alongside leading South African musicians.
Following her marriage in 2009, Valentina relocated to Cape Town, where she continued to balance her performing career with her passion for music education. She taught at Beau Soleil Music Centre and later at Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre, where she taught violin and viola, conducted the Senior String Orchestra, and served as concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2018, Valentina has run her own violin studio and directed the student string orchestra Da Cape’O Strings at El Shaddai Christian School in Durbanville.
Alongside her teaching, she remains an active performer, freelancing with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Cape Town Baroque Orchestra, and Simply Strings Entertainment. She is also the founder and first violinist of the professional Da Cape’O String Quartet.
Through her teaching, Valentina aims to inspire young musicians to develop not only their individual skills but also a lifelong appreciation for the joy of making music together.
