ABOUT
Arduino, sensors, motors, and code. Learners build their own line-following robot these holidays, then take it home.
Description
This holiday, your child can build a robot that thinks for itself.
At the Robotics Fundamentals Holiday Club, learners start with a microcontroller and a handful of components. They finish with a working robot that follows a line around a track on its own. Along the way, they learn the electronics and coding behind every robot, from factory arms to Mars rovers.
Each day builds on the last, so by the end of the club, learners understand how their robot works, and why.
What they’ll learn
- Arduino - They get to know the small computer that becomes the robot’s brain, and learn how to connect it and upload their first programs.
- Sensors - They learn how robots see the world, wiring up infrared sensors that tell the robot where the line is.
- Motors - They connect and control motors so their robot can drive, turn, and change speed.
- Code - They write the program that ties it all together, teaching the robot to read its sensors and steer itself along the track.
- The final build - They put everything together, test the robot on the track, adjust it until it runs smoothly, and take their first robotics project home.
Who it’s for
- Learners aged [add age range] who are curious about how things work
- Kids who love Lego, gaming, gadgets, or building things
- No coding or electronics experience needed
What’s included
- A robot kit for every learner, which they keep
- All tools and equipment
- Facilitation from AlgoAtWork’s robotics team
Good to know
- Drop-off and collection at AlgoAtWork offices.
- Under-18s need a signed consent form from a parent or guardian on the day
