a Morning Retreat with Yoga, an African Sound Journey & Concert
Sat Nov 14, 09:45 - Sat Nov 14, 13:30
Methodist Hall
ABOUT
It’s a Saturday morning in Muizenberg (09h45). We begin with a classic yoga class, facilitated by Kim Frankel - all levels (no prior experience necessary) slipping away from our lives and into our bodies.
This segues into an African Sound Journey with Dave Reynolds & Bongani Sotshononda, a deep yoganidra accompanied by sounds from Africa and Asia.
Dave is SA’s premier steelpan player, a Paraguayan harpist, acoustic guitarist and multi-award winning composer. He has performed and recorded all over the world with Steve Newman, Hugh Masekela, Andy Narell, Tony Cox, the late Gito Baloi of Tananas, Paul Hanmer and many others. Bongani is SA’s premier jazz vibraphonist and marimba player. He spends most of his time performing in Europe and the islands of the Indian Ocean.
After a light lunch together (meat-free, wheat-free), Dave and Bongani give a concert of music from their latest albums.
We end at 13h30.
For the past 8 years Kim Frankel has been conducting weekly Iyengar yoga classes in Muizenberg. As she leaves for Riebeeck-Kasteel in December this retreat is the chance of a lifetime.
We need 8 pledges to make this event happen. Thereafter, general tickets will be launched (at a higher price), so please spread the word to the other early birds you know.
