ABOUT

“It’s not the note you play that’s the wrong note – it’s the note you play afterwards that makes it right or wrong.” - Miles Davis.

Introducing the latest addition to Cape Town's booming stand-up comedy scene: Wrong Note Comedy.

Wrong Note features a curated line-up of Cape Town's funniest comedians who get to playfully experiment with long-form stand-up comedy in the intimate setting of The Flat, Ganesh Listening Room.

It's no secret that Cape Town has one of the most thriving open mic comedy scenes in the world. Every night you can watch 10 different comedians making you laugh for 5 minutes at a time.

Wrong Note offers something different - shorter line-up, longer sets, limited tickets. This is where Cape Town's top comedy talent show off the full-range of their skills in a cozy environment.

Your headliner for the first edition is the unofficial mayor of Cape Town, Lazola Gola.

When he's not winning awards behind the camera, or smoking cigs while running marathons, Lazola Gola can be found on stages all across the country making people laugh with his quirky observations, and incredibly clever jokes. You've seen Lazola on Comedy Central, SABC, and eTV, now you can see him live and in person.

Joining him are two hilarious stalwarts of the Cape Town comedy scene: Phil de Lange and Candace Fortune.

Comics Choice Award winner Phil de Lange is one of the most unique voices in South African comedy, blending ukulele music, one liners, and stories that'll have you asking, "Why are you like this?" Which also happens to be the name of his latest solo show.

Driven by caffeine, green and whatever hobby her ADHD chose that morning, Candace Fortune is a chaotic delight who takes you on a self reflective journey with side quests no one asked for. Fresh off her debut solo show, Candace will be bringing her, uh, highly acclaimed comedy stylings to The Flat.

Your host for the night is a rising star of Cape Town's comedy scene, and Comics Choice Awards Breakthrough Act nominee: Chuma Bentele.

Irreverent, edgy, and unpredictable, Chuma has an earned a reputation as one of Cape Town's most exciting acts, regularly leaving packed out rooms all over the city rolling on the floor with laughter with his unhinged takes on the world around him.

Pull in early for the best thai food in Cape Town, grab yourself a quart or a delicious cocktail, then make your way up to The Flat for an intimate night of hilarity.
