BEKKERSDAL Bachelors & Blunders

There are four stories which Herman Charles Bosman gets his favorite narrator, Oom Schalk Lourens to tell in this performance. And they all have something to do with the title, Bekkersdal, Bachelors & Blunders. The auteur, Celia Musikanth directs David Muller as Oom Schalk and the evening takes off with fun and laughter. A s you can see by the Event Listing Image Muller has excelled himself in tirelessly rehearsing ensuring that every word, gesture and movement is in the right place. Here what two critics say:

Muller’s Oom Schalk was wry, softly spoken, and empathetic, with a pause here and a puff at his pipe there. Seated most of the time on his bench, with just a few sips of peach brandy, dressed simply in his khakis, braces, veldskoens and felt hat, pipe in mouth, he told the delightful tales which Bosman made so much his own, clearly describing the unique personalities of the area of Groot Marico and environs. Oom Schalk’s brand of wisdom was funny, astute and at times heart wrenching…..Lynn Kelly, Mossel Bay Advertiser

Remember folks, Bosman wrote Afrikaans in English so if you have read this far you'll understand every word, whether you are English, Afrikaans, isi-Xhosa or any of those twelve official languages. Bosman never let the truth get in the way of a good story; neither do I. Have fun. Book now and avoid disappointment.
