PHILA DLOZI - LIVE AT THE CHAIRMAN

His Durban Solo Debut | Saturday, 28 November 2026

This November, The Chairman welcomes Phila Dlozi for his debut solo show in Durban - an intimate musical gathering led by one of South Africa’s distinctive contemporary Afro-soul voices.

Born in kwaSokhulu, near Richards Bay, Phila Dlozi’s journey is a testament to the power of purpose, perseverance and the gift of music. From singing on the streets and in train carriages to reaching national audiences, his story is as moving as the music he shares. His breakthrough came through his remarkable vocal talent and collaborations, including the acclaimed track Idlozi Lami, before the release of his debut EP, Ekhayakomama, in 2022.

Rooted in African tradition and spiritual expression, Phila’s sound moves effortlessly between Afro-soul, jazz and folk influences. Through songs such as Badimo, Amalobolo, Babekazi and Ikhandlela, he explores the complexities of love, family, identity, ancestry and the search for light in uncertain times.

But a Phila Dlozi performance is more than a collection of songs. It is an invitation to pause, to listen, to reconnect and to feel. His soulful voice and heartfelt storytelling create space for reflection, collective joy and the kind of connection that reminds us why live music matters.

Now, for the first time in a solo show in Durban, Phila brings this deeply personal musical experience to The Chairman. Expect an evening of powerful vocals, rich African sounds and stories that travel beyond the stage and settle somewhere in the soul.

Durban, this is your invitation to gather, listen and let the music move you.
