ABOUT
World Philosophy Day 2026: Sensing the Universe
An evening where philosophy and science meet
What can a physicist and a philosopher learn from each other about how we perceive the universe and our place in it? Both begin in the same place: wonder. On World Philosophy Day, celebrated each November at UNESCO's initiative, New Acropolis South Africa invites you to an evening of ideas, art and conversation.
Gather from 18:30: arrive early, meet fellow curious minds and enjoy a warm welcome.
An opening performance by Met_A_Morphosis (instagram.com/met_a_morphosis).
A talk by Dr Luca Pontiggia, PhD physicist, from Universe on Stage (instagram.com/terzio_luca).
A dialogue and Q&A between Dr Luca Pontiggia and Guy Hazon, National Director of New Acropolis South Africa, on where philosophy and science meet, and how both can guide the way we see, choose and live each day.
Your turn: a short interactive moment where you become part of the conversation.
When: Thursday 19 November 2026, 18:30 for 19:00 (about 2 hours)
Where: The Whirlwind Theatre, Delta Environmental Centre
Tickets: R220, with a 20% discount for students and pensioners.
