INDIGO DYEING WORKSHOP

With Aboubakar Fofana

Hosted by Occupying The Gallery

Join Occupying The Gallery for an intensive two-day workshop in natural indigo dyeing, led by Malian-French artist, designer and master indigo dyer Aboubakar Fofana.

As Occupying The Gallery’s artist-in-residence for the month of October, Fofana brings his extensive knowledge and practice of indigo dyeing to Johannesburg, offering participants an opportunity to engage with the rich material, cultural and artistic traditions of this practice.

Rooted in the sharing of knowledge, hands-on experimentation and cross-cultural exchange, the masterclass reflects Occupying The Gallery’s commitment to creating spaces for collective learning and the transmission of artistic knowledge across generations and disciplines.

This workshop is intended for artists and creative practitioners.

All workshop materials will be provided.
