Koeksisters & Jazz: Kirsten Skippers — Solo Piano
Sun Oct 25, 15:00 - Sun Oct 25, 17:30
Transatlantic Jazz Exchange
ABOUT
Join us for another intimate Sunday afternoon of live jazz, koeksisters and conversation at the Transatlantic Cultural House.
This edition features Kirsten Skippers, an emerging Cape Town jazz pianist and composer, performing solo piano in the intimate setting of the House.
Kirsten discovered her ability to play music by ear at a young age, learning alongside her father before being mentored by renowned pianist Reginald Dreyer. She went on to study Jazz Studies and Jazz Performance at the South African College of Music at the University of Cape Town.
Her musical journey includes performing with the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band at the Joy of Jazz in 2019, forming the Kirsten Skippers Quartet in 2022, and exploring original composition and collaborative projects connecting music, history and heritage.
Experience an afternoon of expressive piano, jazz improvisation and musical storytelling, accompanied by fresh koeksisters and soft drinks.
Come for the music. Stay for the conversation, connection and koeksisters.
ABOUT THE TRANSATLANTIC CULTURAL HOUSE
