Thabo Smol Presents Di Thupa Tsa Smol Live and Re-imagined part 2

THABO SMOL PRESENTS — DI THUPA TSA SMOL, LIVE AND RE-IMAGINED

Some artists make music. Others build legacies, challenge expectations, and redefine what is possible.

On 7 November 2026, Untitled Basement welcomes Thabo Smol for Di Thupa Tsa Smol: Live and Re-imagined — an ambitious live interpretation of a project that marks a significant turning point in his musical journey.

Known for his 15-year legacy as one half of house music heavyweights Black Motion, the SAMA-winning artist is stepping into a new creative chapter with his debut jazz album, Di Thupa Tsa Smol, released on 25 April 2026.

It is safe to say that 2026 has been Thabo Smol’s year. His patient yet commanding takeover of the alternative music scene, allowing the music to do the talking, is a masterclass in artistic reinvention.

Moving beyond the familiar boundaries of electronic and house music, Smol embraces jazz and alternative ambient electronic sounds as spaces for spiritual expression, creative healing, and artistic rebellion. With an expansive body of work that reflects the ambition of this new chapter, the project is more than a change in sound — it is a statement of artistic freedom.

For the South African music scene, this moment matters. It speaks to the freedom of our artists to evolve, experiment, and explore the full depth of their musical identities without being confined by the genres that first made them known.

At Untitled Basement, we believe in creating space for these moments — where musical traditions meet new possibilities, established artists take creative risks, and audiences experience familiar voices in entirely new ways.

This is Thabo Smol as you’ve never experienced him before.
