The Sufi Movement in South Africa

ABOUT

We warmly invite you to experience the joyous connecting space of our Dances of Universal Peace circle , Cape Town, held at the Sufi Temple in Newlands every 2-3 months.

The Dances of Universal Peace are simple, meditative, joyous, multi-cultural circle dances that use sacred phrases, chants, music, and movements to touch the spiritual essence within ourselves and recognize it in others. A transformative spiritual practice, the Dances are rooted in the celebration of all the world’s wisdom traditions to inspire harmony and peace. All are welcomed into the circle to hold hands in an embodied prayer of Unity.

There are no performers and no experience is necessary as everything is taught in the moment. Together we sing and dance in an atmosphere of authenticity, vulnerability and compassion to dissolve separation, explore our interconnectedness with Creation and all humanity. Samuel L. Lewis, the father of the Dances of Universal Peace, remarked about the potential of the Dances as a vehicle for revolutionary peace-making in our time:

“Although we seem to be in a world of song and dance, we are most concerned with peace on earth.”

We are offering these circles out of the love for the Dances and have always held it on donation base and we would like to keep this as it is.

but...

unfortunately the cost for the venue has increased - so we like to ask for a contribution of R 100,- for anyone who can afford it.

Our circles will stay open for anyone - whatever you can contribute !

Tickets on quicket and at the door.
