Walk for Safer Beginnings
Sat Nov 28, 08:30 - Sat Nov 28, 10:30
100 Beach Rd
ABOUT
Saturday, 28 November 2026 | 08:30 – 10:30 | Sea Point Promenade
Join us on the Sea Point Promenade for a 5 km walk from the lighthouse to the pools and back, raising awareness about the risks of drinking alcohol during pregnancy.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are entirely preventable, and South Africa has among the highest recorded rates in the world. There is no known safe amount of alcohol during pregnancy, and no safe time to drink.
This walk forms part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, recognising that FASD prevention starts with supporting and informing women rather than blaming them.
What to expect
- 5 km out-and-back route along the promenade, flat and paved
- Suitable for all fitness levels, families, prams and wheelchairs
- Bottled water provided
- Registration at 08:00, walk departs 08:30
Wear comfortable shoes, bring a hat and sunscreen, and help us make FASD visible.
