ABOUT
Explore the southern sky from anywhere in the world
Your own telescope. Your own targets. One night under the spectacular dark skies of the Cederberg.
Experience the Southern Hemisphere's night sky without leaving home. Kagga Kamma Remote Observatory (KKRO) offers nightly rentals of the ZWO Seestar S50 Smart Telescope, giving you remote control of a telescope permanently located at our observatory in South Africa.
Whether you're an experienced astrophotographer or just beginning your journey into deep-sky imaging, you can explore and photograph some of the most spectacular objects in the southern sky.
From the magnificent Eta Carinae Nebula and Omega Centauri to the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy and the rich star fields of the Milky Way, the southern sky offers extraordinary imaging opportunities.
What is included?
For R200 per night, you receive:
- Exclusive use of a Seestar S50 for your booked observing session.
- Remote telescope control through the free Seestar app on your smartphone or tablet.

4. Receive your telescope access
We will authorise your Seestar account to access your allocated telescope for the duration of your booking.

What happens if the weather is poor?
Observations are weather-dependent. KKRO monitors local conditions and operates its telescopes subject to weather and equipment safety restrictions.
If weather prevents meaningful observing during your session, we will offer a replacement night, subject to availability.

A smartphone or tablet running the Seestar app, a registered ZWO/Seestar account and a reliable internet connection.
