Explore the garden with the experts
Join Rupert Koopman, botanist and fynbos conservation specialist, who brings extensive experience in threatened plant species and habitats for a tour of 40 Protea Way. Rupert has served as Conservation Manager for the Botanical Society of South Africa and now works as a freelance botanist and guide.
You can also join Bruce Esau and Natalie Williams, horticulturists at 40 Protea Street, as they take you on a journey from the conservation efforts at Boland Park to the developing landscapes of 40 Protea Street.
Discover future garden zones inspired by:
- Afromontane forests
- Sand fynbos
- Renosterveld
- Subtropical KwaZulu-Natal landscapes
- Rugged limestone outcrops
Each area will reveal its own character as the garden grows and matures.
The tour will also take you through the traditional rose garden, orchid house and natural pool, which is now home to the rare Cape Galaxias (Galaxias zebratus).
