ABOUT
First Drafts is a curated storytelling experience where artists, writers, poets, musicians, members of the public and thinkers share work in its most honest form. It is a space that celebrates vulnerability, creativity, and conversation by giving people permission to present ideas that are still becoming. Unlike traditional open mics, every edition is intentionally curated to create a cohesive experience that leaves audiences inspired, challenged, and connected.
The name First Drafts comes from the belief that:
- Every masterpiece started as a first draft.
- Every person is a work in progress.
- Stories do not have to be finished to be worth telling.
It embraces imperfection as the birthplace of excellence.
The Experience
First Drafts isn't simply a sequence of performances. It is designed like a live narrative.
Each event includes:
- Curated poetry
- Storytelling
- Spoken word
- Live music
- Conversations with featured guests
- Audience participation where appropriate
- An intentional atmosphere
Rather than asking "Who's performing?", the audience asks, "What's the story tonight?"
Even if you are nervous to share, come, we are here for it!
