Suburban sculpture garden

Designer Henk Scholtz transformed this property into an inspiring landscape, using the formal layout and circular shapes that have become his trademark. A sense of order prevails throughout, from the round central lawn and the pink terracotta planters on the southern side of the swimming pool to the circular beds of aloes, succulents, indigenous grasses and plumbago just beyond the fever tree forest. Now known as the Gouws Sculpture Garden, it has several sculptures waiting to be discovered as you stroll along the pathways, and a wilder northwest corner to explore. Most of the plants are waterwise indigenous species, some of them clipped into interesting shapes. We also planted olive trees to start our own olive oil label, which has been a rewarding venture!
