ABOUT
The Durban Business Seminar, presented by Boto Exec and hosted by Luyanda Taboshe, is a business development and networking event that brings together aspiring entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals to learn how to start, position, promote and grow their businesses.
The seminar creates a space where people can exchange ideas, establish meaningful connections and gain practical knowledge they can apply to their entrepreneurial journeys. It combines personal and business branding with the everyday work of finding customers, generating sales, delivering a strong customer experience and building effective business systems.
At its heart is a simple message: start where you are, understand the value you offer, and take deliberate steps towards building a sustainable business.
The programme draws on the principles of “Just Start”, exploring six connected areas of entrepreneurship:
- Finding your niche: Identifying your strengths, interests and area of specialisation, then understanding the specific market your business can serve.
- Standing out in the market: Exploring your industry, understanding existing alternatives and giving customers a clear reason to choose your product or service.
- Building a strong business foundation: Focusing on your own business, knowing your offering thoroughly and developing the capability to deliver on your promises.
- Finding customers and converting interest into sales: Exploring approaches such as lead generation, social media marketing, search visibility, newsletters, word of mouth, publicity and sales funnels.
- Creating a customer experience that encourages loyalty: Understanding how service, communication and consistent delivery can turn a first purchase into a lasting client relationship.
- Building systems and processes: Using tools such as customer relationship management software, documenting activities and creating repeatable ways of working that support growth.
Another central focus is the entrepreneur’s public presence. The seminar explores how founders and business owners can build recognisable personal brands, communicate their expertise and create visibility for themselves and their organisations. It considers how that visibility can support credibility, attract opportunities and contribute to revenue.
Networking is equally important. The event gives attendees an opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs, exchange experiences, introduce their businesses and explore potential collaborations. It also provides participating business partners with a platform to introduce relevant products and services to an entrepreneurial audience.
The Durban Business Seminar is intended for people preparing to launch a business, entrepreneurs establishing themselves and existing business owners seeking clearer direction, stronger positioning and more effective ways to attract and retain customers.
The aim is for attendees to leave with useful connections, a clearer understanding of their business priorities and practical next steps they can begin implementing.
