ABOUT

Welcome to “Andy’s Club – Take 10”!

We’re delighted to present the next in our 2026 series of “Andy’s Club” sessions. This will be the last one for this year, and something special to celebrate as it marks our tenth event overall and nearly two years of sharing and enjoying Cape Town’s live music.

Andy’s Club is a vibrant community project launched in January 2025 by a group of passionate enthusiasts in the Blouberg/Table View area of Cape Town’s West Coast. Our aim is to create a dynamic platform for local musicians to share their craft with a supportive audience.

As a non-profit initiative we’re committed to evolving and improving with each step, learning from others and exploring what resonates with performers, audience, and venue. We celebrate original music and welcome impressive covers of beloved songs. We appreciate both seasoned artists who are already confident in their craft and less experienced performers who are seeking a safe place to develop their skills and material. We take the quality of our music seriously, but we are also human and we make mistakes, learn from them, smile and move on.

We strive to create an immersive yet relaxed music experience, inviting performers, supporters, and others who simply enjoy listening, to come together and revel in the beauty of live music. Our aim is to leave them feeling that they have truly heard the compositions without being overwhelmed by volume or excessive complexity.

Please note: Your ticket is for the music only. Dinner will be from an a la carte menu. There will be a full bar service. Strictly no BYO.

The performers

For 7 November we are again privileged to offer a programme showcasing a selection of different musical styles and boasting a variety of youth, experience, fresh originals, and familiar covers.

Lyla Bellwood

We’re pleased to welcome to our stage for the first time Lyla Bellwood, who will sing a selection of popular songs accompanied by the redoubtable Rae Swart.

Taku Mandi

I'm taku mandi...singer-songwriter fusing pop, hip-hop, and acoustic indie. My music is a reflection of my life…real, faith rooted, and built to connect people through my life experiences and diverse stories of failure, mountain tops, and everything in between.

Andy Mercer

Andy came to songwriting late in life as one of his “things I want to do when I retire”. After a couple of years developing short instrumental pieces and becoming increasingly frustrated that the words wouldn’t come, he discovered the Cape Town School of Songwriting and enrolled for the course. He says now that this move made the difference between sitting in the audience and wishing he had something to perform, and getting up on stage and doing it.

As a relative newcomer Andy approaches each new song as a fresh challenge and tries to learn and build in something he hasn’t done before – whether in words, rhythm, melody, or performance. He believes that this keeps his own interest high – and hopes it does the same for his audience.

Jasper Dick

Jasper Dick is a singer/songwriter based in Cape Town, South Africa. A jack-of-all-trades, he loves to create original songs in a wide variety of styles from folk and rock to blues and kwela, whatever can be used to elicit an emotional response. The lyrical content of the songs is equally varied with themes of politics, war, love and heartbreak, mixed with more upbeat and humorous numbers. Jasper also loves to interpret covers to suit a stripped back acoustic performance.

Naomi Jean

Naomi Jean is a singer-songwriter from Melkbosstrand, Cape Town. Her songs reflect her perspective as a storyteller with a clear and authentic sound. Naomi was also in the Top 3 songwriters in the 2025 Barleycorn Songwriters Competition, coming 2nd place with her song “Had Him”.

The Stremes (unplugged)

THE STREMES are a South African rock band formed in London in 2006 by front man Wayne Pauli (vocals and guitar), Benjamin Peacefull (bass and vocals) and Atom Shape (drums and vocals).

In early 2006 Wayne recorded some home demos which he placed on MySpace as THE STREMES.

These demos were noticed by an indie label publishing house in London and a deal was signed with the band. After two years and an expired visa Wayne returned home to South Africa and Benjamin followed shortly afterwards in 2008. Wayne and Benjamin continued playing as a duo on the Cape Town music scene and in 2009 the band recorded an album at Sunset Studios in Stellenbosch called ‘Maze of Light’.

After a long hiatus and the Covid lockdown THE STREMES started working again in 2024 and released two remixed tracks ‘ The City Sleeps’ and ‘Got Myself Together’ across all music streaming platforms as well as an official music video on YouTube for The City Sleeps. A third track ‘Overload’ was released in 2025 and is currently receiving airplay abroad.

THE STREMES are a modern band fusing classic rock sounds and electronic soundscapes, with a diverse range of influences from U2, Nirvana and Oasis to the classic blues rock of the late 60’s. Their sound can be described as guitar driven rock with melodic and at times heavier elements. “We think of ourselves simply as a rock band in the classic sense and not necessarily belonging to any particular sub-genre like ‘indie’ or ‘hard rock’ etc”.

THE STREMES are currently recording new tracks and music videos as well as gigging around Cape Town; playing at a variety of venues and music festivals.
