SPRING WINE WALK from Dirtopia Trail Centre @MURATIE

October is one of the most beautiful months in the Cape—perfect for a relaxed morning hike, mountain views and Muratie wines. Hikers are welcomed at Dirtopia Trail Centre on Muratie Wine Estate, with a mimosa!

From there, follow the marked hiking trail through the forest to the lookout point on Simonsberg. The complete route includes approximately 200 wooden steps and varied terrain.

It is a climb, but there is no rush. At the top, settle in and enjoy the views towards Table Mountain while tasting four Muratie wines: Rosé, Laurens Campher Chenin Blanc, Blended Red and Merlot.

Bring a blanket and a few snacks if you would like to linger over the tasting before walking back down to the Trail Centre.

WALK STARTS: 09:30

EXPECTED RETURN: Between 11:30 and 12:00

DISTANCE: Approximately 3.5km

COST: Adults R245 | Under-18s R100

Your ticket includes:

• A mimosa on arrival
• Day permit for the marked hiking route
• Tasting of four Muratie wines at the lookout (Juice for under-18s)

What to bring

Wear comfortable, closed walking or hiking shoes. The route includes over 200 wooden steps, uphill sections and varied terrain. Carry your own water and bring a hat, jacket, backpack, sunscreen and snacks if you like. A small blanket is useful for relaxing at the lookout.

Morning schedule

09:00–09:25: Registration and collection of armbands

09:30: Briefing followed by the walk at a leisurely pace

10:00–10:15: Arrive at the lookout for the wine tasting

11:00: Begin the approximately 1.5km walk back down

11:30–12:00: Arrive back at the Dirtopia Trail Centre

The Trail Centre will be open for snacks and cold-drink sales. Any additional drinks purchased before, during or after the walk will be for your own account.

Places are limited and all tickets must be booked online in advance by 16 Oct’26.
