Candles of Remembrance

Life gets busy. Candles of Remembrance is an invitation to slow down for one afternoon and make time for the people who matter most.

Bring your family and friends, pack a picnic, spread out your blanket or camping chairs and join East Rand Palliative Care for an afternoon of live music with Jaryd Smith, time together and a beautiful candle-lighting ceremony as the sun sets.

This is an afternoon for all of us to celebrate life and health as they are today; to make memories with family and friends, including those who may be facing illness and to remember with love the special people who have passed away but remain very much a part of our lives.

Request a special song

When purchasing your ticket, you can send us a song request in memory of someone special. Perhaps it was their favourite song. Perhaps it reminds you of a moment you shared. Perhaps hearing it takes you straight back to them. Jaryd will do his best to include as many requested songs as possible during his live performance.

Candle-lighting ceremony

As sunset approaches, candles will be distributed and the East Rand Palliative Care medical team will lead us in a special ceremony to remember and honour those we have lost.
