Echoes of Marabi brings together the vibrant rhythms of South Africa and the creative spirit of Switzerland in a celebration of marabi, jazz and soulful song.
Led by South African pianist and vocalist Yonela Mnana and Swiss saxophonist Benedikt Reising, the ensemble features the powerful harmonies of The Soultee Sisters — Happiness Siyoko, Busisiwe Shongwe and Nompumelelo Gugu Kubheka. Joining the band for their performances is Swiss drummer Rico Baumann, adding a dynamic dimension to this unique musical collaboration.
Drawing inspiration from South Africa’s rich marabi tradition, the ensemble blends soulful vocals, infectious grooves, contemporary jazz and expressive improvisation to create a sound that is both deeply rooted and refreshingly contemporary.
