Nutcracker and Sweets
This December, Beverly Acquisto Studio of Dance brings the magic of The Nutcracker to the South Coast in a joyful community production featuring young dancers, older students, adult performers and members of our local community.
The Nutcracker — Acts I & II
Our journey begins at Clara's family Christmas party, where an extraordinary gift leads her into a magical adventure. As the clock strikes midnight, the Nutcracker comes to life, mice and soldiers do battle, and Clara travels through the shimmering beauty of the Snow scene.
In Act II, the celebration continues with Tchaikovsky's much-loved Spanish, Arabian, Chinese and Russian dances, Reed Pipes, Mother Ginger and her Bon Bons, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and the Waltz of the Flowers.
For many of our youngest performers, this will be their first experience of taking part in a fully staged theatrical production. Behind them is a community of local people contributing their time and talents to costumes, sets, props, lighting, sound, stage management and all that happens behind the curtain.
And then… Sweets!
Following The Nutcracker, selected dancers from Beverly Acquisto Studio of Dance take the stage in a lively showcase of additional works from the studio. Featuring a selection of ballet, tap and modern dance, Sweets gives audiences another glimpse of the range, energy and versatility of BASD's dancers.
Together, Nutcracker and Sweets offers a festive celebration of dance, theatre and community — created here on the South Coast and shared with families this Christmas.
