For our opening at Hercus, we welcome the magnificent Ramon Alexander Trio — one of Cape Town’s most beloved jazz piano masters, featuring:

Ramon Alexander is an acclaimed pianist, composer and leading exponent of Cape Jazz, whose career spans performance, composition, education and musical direction. Since being selected for the Standard Bank National Youth Big Band in 2004, he has collaborated with renowned artists including Hubert Laws, Khaya Mahlangu, Robbie Jansen, Errol Dyers, McCoy Mrubata and Terumasa Hino. His music has taken him across Europe, Asia and the USA, with performances at major festivals including the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Borneo International Jazz Festival and Journey to Jazz International Jazz Festival. Alexander has released several acclaimed recording projects, including Picnic at Kontiki, Echoes from Louwskloof and Cape Jazz Piano, and has produced music across a range of genres. He currently heads the Jazz Division at Stellenbosch University, while continuing his work as a curator, producer, musical director and mentor to emerging young musicians.
