About the Workshop

This practical, beginner-friendly workshop takes place at Bronberg Conservancy on Graham Road, Tiegerpoort, Pretoria East.

You'll spend the afternoon learning by doing — preparing substrates, inoculating spawn, and setting up your own grow bag to take home and fruit. No prior experience needed. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

Spaces are limited to ensure personal attention and a quality hands-on experience for every participant.

What You'll Learn

A complete introduction to growing gourmet oyster mushrooms at home:

• Selecting and prepping the right pasteurised substrate
• Pasteurising methods for substrates
• Mixing and inoculating with spawn like a pro
• Setting up grow bags or containers for proper airflow
• Managing incubation conditions for fast colonisation
• Triggering fruiting with light, air, and temperature shifts
• Harvesting at the right time and rehydrating for more flushes
