Beyond The Try taking you behind the scenes of Nkosi Mnikazi’s life — a young rugby lover, schoolboy athlete and content creator whose journey goes far beyond what happens on the rugby field.

Nkosi lives with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy (GMFCS Level II), a form of cerebral palsy that primarily affects his legs. Over the years, tight and shortened muscles, changes in the positioning of his feet and difficulty fully straightening his knees have become part of his everyday reality.

But Nkosi has never allowed his diagnosis to define him. He has continued to walk, play, create, connect with the rugby community and chase the moments that make him feel most alive. Today, however, the physical challenges are becoming increasingly painful — particularly in his right foot and heel, both Achilles tendons and the arches of his feet.

Beyond The Try invites audiences into the reality behind the highlights.

Through Nkosi’s eyes, we experience his day-to-day medical journey, the appointments, assessments, uncertainty and decisions that come with preparing for major surgery — while also celebrating the game he loves through highlights of schoolboy and club rugby. This screening is not simply about cerebral palsy or surgery. It is about resilience, courage, family, friendship, sport and choosing to keep moving forward when the road becomes difficult.
