Masterclass 2: The password habits putting you at risk (and the easy fix)

Think your passwords are secure? Think again.

We're often our own weakest link online – not because we're careless, but because remembering dozens of different passwords is genuinely hard. So we reuse the same one (or a slight variation) again and again, without realising just how risky that is.

In this friendly, no-jargon session, NetSavvy founder Carina van Wyk will show you that strong, secure passwords are your very first line of defence against scams and identity theft. She'll walk you through:

• Why weak passwords or a variation of one password puts you and your personal information at risk
• How do I know if a password is strong enough?
• Don't have another password left in you? How to keep every account secure while only ever having to remember one master passphrase: we show you how a password manager works

By the end of this session, you'll be able to:

• Judge how strong (or weak) your current passwords really are
• Understand what a password manager is and how it works
• Set up a password manager and start using it right away

Whether you're still typing the same password everywhere or you've been meaning to sort this out for ages, this session is for you. There'll be no judgement, just practical help. Please note that although most password managers work in similar ways, we'll be using the Bitwarden password manager for demonstration purposes.

Every attendee will also walk away with a handy cheat sheet covering extra ways to strengthen your online security.
