Muller’s Oom Schalk was wry, softly spoken, and empathetic, with a pause here and a puff at his pipe there. Seated most of the time on his bench, with just a few sips of peach brandy, dressed simply in his khakis, braces, veldskoens and felt hat, pipe in mouth, he told delightful tales which Bosman made so much his own, clearly describing unique personalities of the area of Groot Marico and environs. In the event banner Oom Schalk is waiting for the train to Plettenberg Bay and, in the event listing image he is preparing for delivering the best of his creator's Stories as best he can. Schalk tells me he is excited about visiting a coast line like Plett. Please remember Schalk speaks Afrikaans in English so we can all understand the man.
