Faffies Heritage Day

Join us for Faffies Heritage Day with Faf de Klerk on Thursday, 24 September 2026 at Warm Karoo, Bloemfontein.

Fires going. Potjies cooking. Music playing. Friends and family kuiering together.

This is a ticketed, family friendly daytime event created to bring people together for the things we love about South Africa: potjiekos, braai, music, food, family and big prizes. At the heart of the day is the Potjiekos Competition, with Faf de Klerk and selected guests joining the judging, socialising and celebrations. The aim is to create a relaxed Heritage Day gathering where guests can spend the day together, meet new people and make a few good memories.

There will also be a Best Dressed competition with big prizes up for grabs. Whether you are coming alone, with friends or as part of a Potjiekos team, this is your chance to dress up and go wild. The bolder, funnier and more creative, the better. Don’t Faf around it and go all out.

General Access

Children under 3 enter free

Kids aged 3 to 17: R199

Adults: R349

Each ticketed guest will receive complimentary:

• A Faffies Gift and Voucher

• Adults receive a beer or cold drink

• Kids receive one cold drink

General Access includes entry to the full Heritage Day event, access to the bar, music, activities, prizes and the Faffies merchandise stand.

Boerie rolls, hamburgers, and drinks will be available to purchase.

Guests must bring their own camping chairs or picnic blankets. A designated area will be available for personal gazebos and umbrellas.

Potjiekos Team Ticket:

R1 299 per team of 4 people

Only 10 team tickets available. Teams can include kids.

Each team receives one designated potjie station.

Included in the team ticket is complimentary:

• Table and umbrella

• Firewood and fire pit

•Vegetables for the potjie

• Dinner plates and cutlery available

• A Faffies Gift and Voucher per person

• Adults receive a beer or cold drink

• Kids receive a cold drink

Teams must bring their own potjie pot, meat, recipe, sauces, special ingredients, tongs, cooking utensils, and personal seating.

Each team will be entered into the official judging and prize categories.

Hot Potjie Collection

If your potjie is still too hot to take home at the end of the event, collection can be arranged for the following day or over the weekend.

How the Day Will Run

10:00: Early Access for Potjie Teams

Competition teams may arrive before general gates open to start cooking.

11:00: General Gates Open

General ticket holders arrive, set up chairs or picnic blankets, grab a drink, explore the Faffies merchandise stand and settle in for the day.

Throughout the Day: Potjies Cooking

The competition runs throughout the day. Guests can enjoy the atmosphere, music, food and activities while the teams cook.

14:00: All Potjies Complete

Every competing potjie must be ready for judging by 14:00.

14:00 to 14:30: Judging

Faf de Klerk and the judging panel taste the entries and select the winners.

14:30: Prize Giving & Lucky Draws

Competition results and the various prize categories are announced.

15:00: Event Close

The formal event ends, with pot collection arrangements available for pots that are still too hot to transport safely.

What Guests Can Expect

Expect a proper team Potjiekos Competition with open fire cooking and judging, music throughout the day, food and a cashless bar, beer pong, rugby ball games and relaxed social activities.

Every ticketed guest receives a complimentary Faffies Gift and Voucher, plus a beer/cold drink per adult or a cold drink per kid.

Additional food and drinks will be available for purchase.

There will also be prizes valued at up to R30,000 across Best Potjie, Best Dressed and Lucky Draws held on the day.

Important Event Information

• This is a cashless event.
• No alcohol may be brought onto the premises. Drinks will be available from the venue bar.
• Boerie rolls, hamburgers and drinks may be purchased at the venue.
• Potjie teams may bring the ingredients required for their competition entry, including meat, sauces and special ingredients.
• Guests must bring their own camping chairs, picnic blankets or other portable seating. Potjie teams must also bring their own personal seating.
• A designated area will be available at the back of the venue for guest gazebo or umbrella setups. Competition teams will each have an umbrella at their station.
• Faffies will provide the fire pit, fire, and preparation table. Teams must bring their own potjie pot, cooking utensils, tongs and any special equipment they require.
• The event is suitable for all ages. Children under 3 enter free. Kids tickets apply from age 3 to 17. Children remain the responsibility of their parents or guardians at all times.
• Adult guests aged 18 and older receive a complimentary beer, while kids receive a complimentary cold drink. Valid identification may be requested before alcohol is served.
• Faffies products will also be available to purchase on the day as a memory of the event.
