National Homeless Conversation

The National Homeless Network every year convenes a 'National Conversation about Homelessness'. The 10th such event will be taking place in Pietermaritzburg, on 10 - 11 November 2026 and everyone is welcome.

The NHN Conversation will be held at One Life South, in Westgate, Pietermaritzburg.

The Conversation is open to anyone who is concerned about this issue: NGOs, religious groups, academics, journalists, businesses, concerned citizens and Government officials; and importantly, people with a lived experience of homelessness.

All attendees need to register in advance by reserving a ticket so that we can provide catering, track numbers, and also keep you informed.

Tickets for this event are sold to cover some of the costs incurred, but participants who are not able to cover a ticket cost, are welcome to register using the FREE ticket option.

Free accommodation and meals for out-of-town delegates will be provided for a limited number of delegates.

Each ticket covers:

• Attendance at Conversation sessions at One Life South facility, 10 - 11 November 2026 ( Tues: 8:00am - 4:00pm, Wed: 8:00 - 14:00)
• Refreshments and lunch on those days
• Printed resources provided at the event
• Electronic copies of presentations sent out after the event
• Tea, Coffee and tea snacks

Tickets do NOT cover:

• Travel to and from Pietermaritzburg
• Travel around Pietermaritzburg
• Accommodation in Pietermaritzburg
• Breakfast or dinner
• Optional evening social activities
• Tours in and around Pietermaritzburg (Optional, on Monday 9th November).

Participants are responsible for making their own arrangements for accommodation. We can provide a list of reasonably priced accommodation near to the event. Limited transport within the close proximity to the venue will be provided. It is strongly advised to stay in Pietermaritzburg for as much as possible during the event as the N3 is under construction and travel times from Durban area are very unpredictable.

Neither the National Homeless Network, nor Life Changer, are in a position to subsidise attendance at the National Conversation (either transport or accommodation.) If you need assistance with this you should contact a homeless organisation in your local area, although there is no guarantee that they will be in a position to assist.
