For one night only, The Lane Theatre becomes The Lane Runway as Waterfront Theatre School presents The Art of Transformation — a vibrant celebration of drag, performance, individuality and the freedom to transform.

WTS Kings and Queens take to the stage alongside some of Cape Town’s established drag artists in an evening of lip-sync, live performance, comedy, dance, character, theatricality and unapologetic showmanship.

Presiding over the evening is our esteemed judging panel: Mother Ambi LaBeija, Hunter Blue, Cay Le Fay and Ina Propriette, alongside an exciting line-up of guest artists including Maxine Wild, Aurora Maine, Dee Blogging, Pichi Keen and Princess Pop — with some of our judges also stepping out from behind the table and onto the stage.

But The Art of Transformation is about more than the competition. At its heart is mentorship, community and creative inclusion — bringing emerging performers together with established artists, sharing a stage and celebrating an industry in which individuality, difference and fearless self-expression all have a place in the spotlight.

Expect three competing Maisons, incredible performances, titles, crowns and plenty of surprises as a new generation of performers discovers just how transformative stepping onto a stage can be.

All proceeds support Waterfront Theatre School, helping us continue to create training, production and diverse performance opportunities for young artists.
