Byron Love

Born and raised in the Sleepy Hollow of Pietermaritzburg, Byron cut his gig teeth at most of the major venues in and around Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands - Polo Tavern being one of the major venues.

He often ventured down to Durban to play at the Beach Hotel, which was his introduction to the Durban live music scene. He soon hooked up with Steve Fataar and played at various venues with Steve. The North Coast soon called and Byron found himself at venues like CaneCutters, Karibu, The Hops, all in and around the Ballito area, as a solo acoustic artist. Byron also played his fair share of festival slots around KZN - The North Coast Festival, Korongo Festival were among them. He appeared at the Durban Ski Boat club on many Sundays.

Byron has spent the past two years in Johannesburg, where he shared the stage at The Radium with Danny de Wet, Tim Parr and The Diamond Dogs. He had his stint at other venues around Jozi, but KZN started calling him back, and he has now returned home, permanently. You can catch him around KZN these days, with Playhouse 5, The Old Mushroom Farm being one of his first home coming shows.

Byron plays solo acoustic music, both covers and originals. You'll hear songs from John B Sebastion, Rodriguez, Eddie Vedder, Tom Waits, The Rolling Stones, Tears for Fears, Ben Harper, Dobie Gray, Zack Brown Band, John Denver, amongst his repertoire of all the favourites.
