Do you have a writing project you are working on? This could be an e-course, a non-fiction, a novel or any writing project you are currently down the line on. How much can you accomplish in four days? Join us in Cape Town and find out just how far you can get.

Join writing coach Sarah Bullen and author Kate Emmerson as they take you through the final push. This bootcamp is non-residential as we join for a week of focussed writing of five hours a day.  In the evening you go home - or to your accommodation - to write some more.

During this 2018 bootcamp Sarah and Kate will be working on a book they are co-writing too. Jump in and immerse yourself in finishing your book along with us.

The focus of this bootcamp is a hard - but loving - push to finish your book and get it ready to send off to publishers or an agent.

WHO SHOULD DO THIS?
In order to attend this you need to have an existing book or project you are working on.

* You have completed a book and want to edit second draft and write a punchy proposal or
*  If it's a novel you will have your first draft done, or 80% complete with a view to finishing or
* In a non-fiction you may have the concept only but be prepared to develop it quickly and write a lot of material  during the course.

WHO SHOULDN'T DO THIS?
Novice writers with no development yet on your book. Rather first do one of the courses to get your book in a draft format. You can look at Write a Book in 100 Days or Write your Book (for memoir or non-fiction)
This bootcamp is to get your book to the finish line.

WE WILL COVER
  • Pitch sessions - a chance to pitch your book concept to the group and get structured feedback to improve and refine it.
  • Writing your proposal / synopsis and perfect it.
  • How to Present Your Book to Publishers
  • Detail your Publishing Plan (either to self-publish, or to submit to traditional publishers)
  • Devise a plan to market the finished book,

The focus is on individual work and getting your word count to the final push.
Every participant will have their own book, and their own journey.

Please note this is a non-residential retreat - which means you will not stay at the venue. For an option for a residential retreat or a beginners writing retreat please look at the course dates here

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SAY
This "write a novel" course was the best birthday present I ever gave myself. It was set in a beautiful and peaceful environment, was well paced, was information packed with all the basics of how to really write a book, had surprising acts of art and physical exercise included to move the thinking through the body, was practical and honest about how dedicated one must really be to write, and was delicious to be around such inspiring facilitators who are warm, caring and so professional too. Thank you Sarah and Anel! - Kate 2017

I spent this last week with Sarah, Anel and the other writers at the Retreat in the Cape. This was truly the most inspiring and motivating thing I have ever done for myself. Sarah's guidance is invaluable. Working our way through the writing process with Sarah has left me feeling far more equipped to pursue my dream. And her personal insights into my project has taken it to another level. I highly recommend this retreat to anyone, regardless of where you are writing wise. Amazing experience. -Najia 2017

"I would never have actually sat down and written my book if Sarah didn’t push me to finally do it. I wrote my first draft of A  Million Miles to Normal in two months and I started it in Sarah's writing class.”   'A Million Miles from Normal', Paige Nick (Penguin 2010)

“I give Sarah's course a 5* rating.”
Zanozuko Mzamo, A Year of Staying Positive (2008)

You walked me through my entire book and fixed the structure in 60 mins. You have given me hope and inspiration again. I was soooooo stuck and now I just feel like something just released today. I have just completed writing what I think could be the list of 96 scenes for my book. YEYYYYY!!!!! I feel soooo Exhilarated!!!!!
