TEDxDurban Democracy 2026

Beyond its flagship annual event, TEDxDurban hosts Salons: smaller, more intimate gatherings that create space to explore timely issues shaping our city, country and collective future.

This TEDxDurban Salon is themed Democracy: Tipping Point. It asks us to consider the moments, choices and forces that can shift a democracy in a new direction, and the role ordinary people play in determining what happens next.

Taking place just four days before South Africa’s local government elections, this non-partisan event will bring together ideas and perspectives that encourage deeper reflection on democracy, leadership, participation and the future of our communities.
