Legalcy is a DEI Firm specialising in BBB-EE Solutions for law firms and exists to implement the BBB-EE Legal Sector Code, with the anchoring purpose of developing black females in the legal field.

‘The Why’ of Legalcy: Seeing The Opportunity in a Deadline

After co-founding and launching an enterprise development program in 2025 as the marketing manager at a law firm, we received over 70 applications, with over 50 of them being received over a space of 24 hours. This was proof of opportunity and challenge because the resources available were enough to support only 10 women with a grant through 1 law firm. Whilst the requirements of the Legal Sector Code gazetted in 2024 continue to be argued in the courts, Legalcy focuses what can happen to the ongoing effort of black economic empowerment when a time frame with specific goals are put in place. 8686 black women registered with the Legal Practise Council represents at least 8800 ways to make it happen.
